HPDO Stronger Together bargaining conference a success.
On 2 August HPDO myself and other delegates from across Queensland held a successful conference to start to develop what conditions we want to improve to make our workplaces better for us and the people we care for in our new agreement with our employer.
Our current HPDO agreement ends 16 October, which is only a short time away, so we need to kick the HPDO2 bargaining campaign into gear and get things started.
It's now time to have your say on your log of claims that will be put forward to our employer. These negotiations will define our wages and conditions for the next three years.
We discussed a number of issues on the day but the most concerning or “hot issues” were:
- Employment security
- Workload management
- Workplace flexibility
- Federal/state budgets and state government staff caps
We discussed other issues that we placed in our draft log of claims which included professional development, increased allowances, retention, rural and remote incentives, HIEA and many others.

We know from history of EBA’s that we only win decent pay increases and are able to protect our conditions when we stand together.
Bargaining is not just about money, it’s also about working for better lives and protecting our services and all of our conditions that help do that.
This means the success of this bargaining campaign will depend on how many HPDO workers are active in our union. If you know a HP / DO in Queensland Health who is not currently a member of their union, now is the perfect time to ask them to join your union so we can ensure that all HPDOs stand strong together for a great collective bargaining outcome.
