HPDO: Queensland Health said NO

Posted on September 23, 2016

HPDO Bargaining 2016On Wednesday Queensland Health representatives told us that they would not support a claim that guaranteed HPs and DOs access to an accrued day off (ADO) every fortnight.

This means that QH has officially said "NO" in negotiations to our claims around ADOs. They still haven’t provided a response on other flexible hours claims.

This "NO" from QH is not the end of the story.

We know from past negotiations that we should never say "never", because when we really care about something and take action together, we can change QH’s mind.

The good news coming out of negotiations is that we were able to give really strong and clear examples of why we need to see change to make our working lives better.

We feel like we have really been progressing in negotiations, but we have seen with our EB9 colleagues that the only thing that changes the minds of QH decision makers is our collective power and strength.

Our AO,TO, OO and PO colleagues are about to start voting on industrial action because QH have not provided them with a good enough offer. I hope to stand with them and I hope you do too.
