HPDO: Breakthrough - ballots coming soon
Finally! After months of drafting your new agreement with the added complications of Queensland Health raising shift work matters late, we have now a final draft of your collective agreement. In the coming weeks, you will have the opportunity to vote on your wages and conditions for the next 3 years.
Not that long ago you were taking action to ensure that your agreement would make your lives at work better and give you full back pay to 17 October 2016. Soon that agreement will be a reality. QH sent the draft agreement through late yesterday afternoon, you can read it here.
QH backed down on their plans to vary the rights of 24/7 shift workers in relation to RDOs in the agreement. They agreed that changes would only occur after a full review and if impacted Together members agreed.
QH have also accepted our request to ensure that the rights for temporary workers converting to permanent status will have a process outlined in the Award (the safety net document registered in the Industrial Relations Commission).
I also met with your Director General seeking his assurance that the new wage rates and back pay will be paid as soon as possible. The DG confirmed he would do whatever possible to make this happen once a ballot was completed.
So what happens now?
You will be sent an electronic ballot by Queensland Health – please vote in this ballot. Then once the ballot result is known the agreement will be certified by the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.
It is following certification that back pay and the new wage rates are usually paid, but as outlined above we are lobbying for an administrative authorisation of this early if possible. We will keep you updated.
It is only through the hard work, persistence and solidarity of thousands of Together members that an agreement with real improvements and a fully back paid deal.
Congratulations on getting to here. It wouldn't have been possible without you.
