1. Recruitment and possible job losses

Last week Peter Steer said on ABC Radio that 80 staff have been displaced by the move to LCCH and around 3Ž4 of those will take voluntary redundancies.  He also only discussed a reduction of admin staff positions, even though we have been advised by HR that there are staff from all streams that have not secured a job in the new hospital.

We are aware that all our members should know whether you have secured a position at your current substantive level.  However we have not yet been given information regarding the scale of the job losses, the types of positions and numbers.  The loss of positions is a concern for workloads, particularly as there will be no decrease in activity.  Please don’t hesitate to raise your concerns regarding the adequacy of staffing levels in your work area, and feel free to discuss this during Thursday’s teleconference.

2. LCCH workspaces

A number of members have raised with us that the new workspaces may not be adequate for your requirements.  Examples include lack of desks / computers, inadequate storage and setup for hot-desking, or not enough space between workers at their desks.

If you have seen your proposed workspace and feel that it needs to be improved before the move, something can be done if we raise those concerns now.  There is an external review being conducted to evaluate the adequacy of workspaces.  If you want your work area to be improved as part of that process, please join the teleconference on Thursday to raise your concerns.
